    I'm on a plain

Idaho! Idaho is narrow at the top, and I don't see much of it. Here's me at Steamers, a hundred or so miles in to the trip.

duhhhhhh
Also in frame: a helpful diagram of Idaho (though it is incorrectly labeled as Interstate 90)

We stop at a rest stop to rest. Or, we stop to rest at a rest stop. You seen one rest stop, you've seen them all and had all the bad free coffee.

Most trees in Idaho are made of wood

Later: Continuing east into the flow of time! Driving for a couple hundred miles at 85 really shows you how many bugs there are on the road.

Also, what kinds of things bugs have in them.

380 miles or so

We make it to Missoula, MT at almost exactly 7 pm. "Gee, sure gets dark here early," I thought. Actually, we have driven FORWARD THROUGH TIME into the MST time zone. So really, it's 8. Many exciting motels await us here.

entire motel is covered in neon
some are a little too exciting

I spent the night in a lynch movie
This one is just right. This elderly woman puttering around in her "Rascal" thinks so, too.

So here I am watching some "tele-vision" and kicking it remote-style. The bathroom occasionally makes sounds of posession, but does feature hot and cold running water. The sink is absolutely fascinating. You turn the hot water knob, hot water comes out. Turn it back off, it stops. Keep turning it off, and hot water starts coming out again. Maybe it's NEGATIVE hot water, but it works just like normal hot water.

A brief stop at the local albertsons teaches us a little about the locals. They dress like they're about to go hiking, or camping, or made fun of at school.

Helen is recording this in her online journal. I'd make fun of it because it was in "archipelago", but it's so much better than mine.
